Discussion for Monday 4th October

This Monday's discussion is led by Peter Godfrey. He writes:

For discussion on Monday, 4th. October I am suggesting Jesus's teaching on judging. The basic text will be Matthew 7 vv 1-21.

I suggest the first period could consider such questions as:

'Why did Jesus say this?'

'Did Jesus practice what he preached?', - See Mw. 23

''Does verse 6 fit in? ('Do not give what is holy to dogs, etc.)

After ten minutes discussion the second period could be about the relevance of this teaching for us today.

Have we made judgments that we have regretted?

Is Jesus's point that we shall be able to tell the difference between good and bad people by the fruits true and useful?
