This discussion will be led by Peter Godfrey on the theme of forgiveness. He writes: Forgiveness is central to the teaching of Jesus. Why was this so? How does his teaching link with the teaching in the Hebrew Bible? Does Jesus add anything or have a different emphasis? How does Jesus’s teaching on forgiveness make a difference to our lives? Is it possible for us to forgive several times? What has it meant in our life experiences to have forgiven and to have been forgiven? Our Bible discussion on Monday evening centres around John 20, verses, 24-29, the story of doubting Thomas. There are many questions around faith and doubt, faith and certainty and why does this story only make it into the gospel of John? Given the rise of churches that seem to offer certainty what place for churches like ours that don't? The Unitarian & Free Christian Bible Discussion Group is holding a series of four Bible Talks that take place between Lent and Pentecost. Each talk will include a talk that fits, sometimes loosely, with a particular date in the Christian calendar.
