Discussion for 11th October
This Monday's discussion is led by Sheena Gabriel. She writes:
On Monday 11th October I’ll be inviting a discussion on the story of Balaam and the Ass - found in the book of Numbers.
A female ass talking back to Balaam the prophet has got to be one of the strangest and most comical texts in the bible. But apart from being a good yarn, does it have relevance for our lives today? What can we glean from the passage about discernment, about following our own will versus God’s will, about rational versus instinctual / intuitive ways of knowing? What may it tell us about angelic intervention, about blessings and curses? And not forgetting... the welfare of donkeys!
Whilst you may like to read the whole story in advance - Numbers 22-24 - in the session we will concentrate on Chapter 22.
