‘Men struck dumb!’ Session led by Sheena and Rob
We’ll look at aspects of the Christmas story, honing in on the perspectives of Joseph and Zachariah. How do these men at the heart of the story respond to the extraordinary situation they find themselves in? How does this compare with Mary and Elizabeth’s response? We’ll explore how the narratives challenge the patriarchal expectations of their time - and perhaps our time too.
The key passages are: Matthew ch.1 vv 18-25 and vv 13-23; Luke ch. 1 vv 5-25 and vv 57-66
It would also be helpful to read through the whole of Matthew chapters 1 and 2, and Luke chapter 2
