Kingdom of Heaven: Bible discussion 26th September 6.30pm - led by Rob Oulton The recent funeral for our late Queen provided a vivid display of political, military and religious pageant. Her death bequeathed a ‘Kingdom’ to her son Charles, who now assumes the headship of this mix of temporal and religious power. Yet, In the gospels we get a picture of a Jewish peasant, Jesus, erupting into Galilee (e.g. Mark ch.1 v 14-15) proclaiming a new Kingdom (Matthew calls it ‘Kingdom of Heaven’, the other gospels, ‘Kingdom of God’) which seems to provoke the existing political, military and religious authorities, as well as mystifying the people who encounter his teaching. No meeting Monday 19th September

Sorry for the late notice, as mentioned of Facebook: After chatting with a couple of folk, we've made the decision to CANCEL the bible discussion on Monday 19th September - due to the Bank holiday - mindful some folk will be watching the Queen's funeral (which it seems will go on into the evening) or have other plans.  The next bible discussion will be led by Rob Oulton on 26th September.

Discussion for 5th September

The Bible Discussion Group is back! This Monday 5th September, the meeting will formally begin at 6.30pm and lasts for one hour: The urgency of scripture. Isaiah 55:6 says, ‘Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon him why he is near.’ Throughout the Bible as in all other religions, as far as I can tell, there is this sense of urgency. In Christianity it’s believe or perish, in Hinduism attain or return and so on. Why the urgency? Do we take it seriously enough? Our Bible discussion group begins again next Monday (5th September). Hope to see you there. Kevin Mason       Unitarian & Free Christian Bible Discussion Group's Zoom Meeting  https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/82378042367 Meeting ID: 823 7804 2367 Passcode: 460019
